Brownsville Revival

The Brownsville Revival: A History Part 1

The Beginning of the Revival

The Invitation

The Brownsville Revival, also known as the Pensacola Outpouring, began on Father's Day, June 18, 1995, at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida. The revival began when an evangelist named Steve Hill was unexpectedly invited to speak. It was somewhat unusual for a senior pastor such as John Kilpatrick to give up his pulpit on such a holiday, but he had just lost his mother and was still mourning her passing.

The Pensacola Outpouring sparked revival around the world and changed countless lives. We are forever indebted to Steve Hill, Lindell Cooley, John Kilpatrick, and all the volunteers at Brownsville Assembly of God Church for opening the windows of heaven to us. We will never be the same.

The Early Days

The Brownsville Revival began at the Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida, on Father's Day, June 18, 1995, under the direction of Pastor John Kilpatrick and visiting Evangelist Steve Hill. The revival was characterized by long periods of worship, prayer, and preaching. People from all over the world came to Pensacola to experience the revival, and many reported being healed, delivered from addictions, and baptized in the Holy Spirit.
